Dr. Rick…calling all artists…Open Saturday, Closed Labor Day! Hello!

Hi!  I hope you are healthy and happy.  Normal is good.  This week is a normal one for us.  Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri  11 to 1 and 3 to 6.

Saturday I will be here!  9:30 to 11… FYI if you can’t make it in during the week,  don’t want you to have to wait until Tuesday  because we are closing Labor Day Monday!

Yes,  bring your friends and family.  Family is included on all monthly plans, don’t let them go without.  More health potential being expressed throughout families is a great and fantastic concept that is helped through chiropractic care of your spine and nervous system that runs your body and expresses life through you!!!  Whew… that took my breath away…  🙂

Calling all artists… my friend Kevin -who I have known since office number 2…(the current one is office number 4! — Did you know?)-oops back to Kevin…. so Kevin asked me if he could but up some of his photography…it looks fantastic!  Do you have some art to put up?  Something to show off how beautiful your insides are?  We’ll change these out in October or November so…let me know!  When you come through the office please notice the beauty…

Still meditating… it might be working even though that’s not supposed to be the point… fyi…30 minutes most days.  Anyone on board?

So send me your news.  Have a nice back to school. I am going to do what I do… people just walked in!  Have a great day, week and life…

Lots of happy,

Happy 4th of July… wearing out the tables…

860 561-LIFE (5433)…www.ChiropracticIsForEverybody.com

Before I forget,  let me wish everybody a happy fourth of July.  We are so lucky to live in a great country like the USA!  So have a safe and happy fourth with family and enjoy your potato salad or macaroni salad– whatever you do at your house!

Many of you know, or have noticed that my chiropractic tables have holes in the table covers.  Much like an old pair of socks or a favorite shirt, they have been slowly wearing out.  When I first noticed this I was slightly embarrassed almost exactly like you feel when someone sees a hole in your sock!  So maybe three months ago I had the girls call the family-owned chiropractic table company out in the Midwest and order some new covers.  They’re not really that expensive or anything like that.  They’re not even difficult to put on although I did have trouble finding the little funny shaped screwdriver that I needed to take the table section off.

Anyway, in the three weeks I waited for those brand-new covers to arrive, I kind of changed my mind.  Instead of being ashamed of the holes in the tables I began to feel proud!  Some of you might’ve heard me saying something like, it should be the goal of all chiropractors to wear out as many chiropractic tables as possible in their lifetime!  I am proud to say this is my third set of table covers on my second set of tables!

When some people first come to the chiropractor they want to call them chiropractic beds.  I quickly teach them they are not beds they are tables.  I don’t know when they became tables because the old chiropractic books called them benches.   Funny story, I adjusted Anna and Melanie, (not my wife), at Sweet Frog in W. Hartford Ctr. last night around 930 while Grace finished her yogurt.   A chiropractor will adjust  you anywhere, on almost anything but they won’t call their table a bed!

I just looked up my numbers over the last 13 years for the heck of it….I  am right around 150,000 adjustments for my chiropractic career…hmmm…  I am not sure what to think of that … 150,000 chances to help people be happy healthy and whole…what an blessing, huh?

So… That’s enough!  Have a great day, a great holiday, and a week filled with life,

Lots of love and appreciation,

Rick   cell 883 9040

Happiness and Flow, Memorial Day Weekend…

860 561-LIFE (5433)  www.ChiropracticIsForEverybody.com   http://www.arayachiropractic.com  arayachiro@gmail.com cell 860 883 9040…

Hi! It’s Dr Rick… you’ll receive this Thursday or Friday of Memorial Day weekend!  I am in the office Friday 11 to 1 and 3 to 6:15  and have made arrangements to be in the office Saturday 10:30 to 12:00.    I will close Monday for the Memorial Day Holiday!

Tuesday Wednesday Friday are normal days next week.. 11 to 1 and 3 to 6:15!  Thank you!  Happy Memorial Day!

So have you seen the documentary Happy :).  I saw it on Netflix…but here’s the trailer on  Amazon.  It’s a little nerdy like documentary’s are but I learned two big things.

One… when your income goes from 5,000 to 50,000 a year, you notice a huge jump in happiness.  When it goes from 50,000 to 500,000 there is no significant positive change in happiness level!  It’s beautiful to see some very poor people who call themselves happy because their son is so happy to see them when they come home from their job running a rickshaw.

Two…happiness happens when you are in the flow…Flow is  like being in the zone.  Here’s a definition…  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology).  So cool that you feel joy from doing the thing that you do and doing only that.  I suppose that’s why people like exercise or running or reading or kayaking or walking or singing or anything that is repetitive and they like!   It feels like what I call “uni- tasking” contrasted with multitasking.  I am blessed that as a chiropractor I get to “be in the flow” many days.

It also explains why we don’t answer the phone when we are taking care of others!  Forgive me if you call and we don’t answer!

So be happy!  Get into the flow!  Have a great weekend!  And like the yellow and white flags say…Get Adjusted!

Happy Peace Love

Spring is the time!

Most of the holistic approaches to health recognize that life happens in cycles.  In these cycles there is always a beautiful, dynamic, wonderful beginning.  This beginning is always filled with evidence of life and growth and getting ready for what is to follow. In our part of the world, this is Spring!  The amazing thing is that if you work in conjunction with the cycles, you get results that flow naturally from what is happening in the world around you.

Have you noticed the sports fields coming to life?  Not the fields themselves because a lot of them still have a little snow on them right now.  It’s the kids I’m talking about.  After school and on weekends you see athletes emerging, moving and starting to get ready! Spring sports clinics abound. The Sports Spring is starting to bloom!

In a place like a chiropractor’s office, is a great time of year to get started building a healthy spine and nervous system, but also renewing our commitment to healthy lifestyle habits as well. Somehow all the rebirth, growth, sprouting and warming helps our healing. It is as if the life happening on the outside can have a dramatic affect on the life happening on the inside.

I encourage you to take a holistic approach to sports preparation this Spring.  Please be well-rounded in the things that you do and whole body oriented.  The coaches should and usually do make sure that young athletes are fit and flexible through varied routines, drills and play.  At home and at school kids need to be thinking about their food choices, how much water they drink, and how much sleep they are getting.  I call these things your “healthy list.”  In this day and age, most people have a pretty good idea of the things they should do to be healthy.  Let me encourage you to make a “healthy list” for you and for your young athletes. Do it with them! Make sure and teach them it’s not just about running faster or throwing the ball farther. Teach them that Spring is the time to prepare their bodies in ways that have an effect on their whole person too! We need to be ready and healthy not only for this season but also for all the years and seasons to come.

The Crack Word –

adopted from The Weekly Sticky… a great way to learn about Chiropractic… theweeklysticky.com

The Crack’ Word Destroys Opportunity…

“I used to get bad ear infections. Mommy and Daddy had to bring me to the doctor’s office a lot. They tried everything to help me get better like pills and shots. The last doctor wanted to do surgery on my ears to put tubes in.

Mommy cried when she heard that. Daddy didn’t like the idea of me getting an operation either…but they didn’t know what else to do.”

Words Make a Difference

“Luckily our neighbor told Mommy and Daddy about a new doctor she brings her whole family to… a Chiropractor. But Mommy didn’t know much about Chiropractors. She thought they just ‘cracked’ backs and that idea was scary to her.

But our neighbor told her chiropractors don’t crack you… they do something called an ‘ADJUSTMENT’ and that it was gentle and safe, and that it would help my body heal itself.”

“She also told Mommy how much healthier her kids were because they were getting adjusted. They didn’t get ear infections, allergies or as many colds.

Daddy felt better about ‘ADJUSTMENTS’ after our neighbor explained what they really were and Mommy wasn’t afraid to take me to the chiropractor. So they decided to try it out.”

“I’ve been adjusted a few times by my chiropractor… I love it. Everyone is happy and friendly there, and I see a lot of other kids too. And the best thing of all, my ears feel so much better and I don’t have to get surgery!

I’m happy my neighbor took the time to explain what chiropractors really do to my Mommy and Daddy, and to use the right word… ADJUSTMENT (instead of ‘crack’) so they were not afraid to take me.”

“If you know other Mommies or Daddies who have sick kids, and want them to get better without drugs or surgery, would you tell them about Chiropractic… and make sure you use the right word… ADJUSTMENT so they won’t be scared to take their kids too!”
