Happiness and Flow, Memorial Day Weekend…

860 561-LIFE (5433) cell 860 883 9040…

Hi! It’s Dr Rick… you’ll receive this Thursday or Friday of Memorial Day weekend!  I am in the office Friday 11 to 1 and 3 to 6:15  and have made arrangements to be in the office Saturday 10:30 to 12:00.    I will close Monday for the Memorial Day Holiday!

Tuesday Wednesday Friday are normal days next week.. 11 to 1 and 3 to 6:15!  Thank you!  Happy Memorial Day!

So have you seen the documentary Happy :).  I saw it on Netflix…but here’s the trailer on  Amazon.  It’s a little nerdy like documentary’s are but I learned two big things.

One… when your income goes from 5,000 to 50,000 a year, you notice a huge jump in happiness.  When it goes from 50,000 to 500,000 there is no significant positive change in happiness level!  It’s beautiful to see some very poor people who call themselves happy because their son is so happy to see them when they come home from their job running a rickshaw.

Two…happiness happens when you are in the flow…Flow is  like being in the zone.  Here’s a definition…  So cool that you feel joy from doing the thing that you do and doing only that.  I suppose that’s why people like exercise or running or reading or kayaking or walking or singing or anything that is repetitive and they like!   It feels like what I call “uni- tasking” contrasted with multitasking.  I am blessed that as a chiropractor I get to “be in the flow” many days.

It also explains why we don’t answer the phone when we are taking care of others!  Forgive me if you call and we don’t answer!

So be happy!  Get into the flow!  Have a great weekend!  And like the yellow and white flags say…Get Adjusted!

Happy Peace Love

Feeling more confident and powerful

A link to a great article on how posture changes everything. In under five minutes…the author teaches it like we do… little curve in your lowback sit tall, belly out a bit…
Men’s Health… By Bethany S. LeBedz
Mom was right: Stand up straight—it’s not just good for your back, it’s good for your career.
A new study in the journal Psychological Science found that good posture not only projects power to other people, but actually makes you feel more powerful yourself.

Straighten your chin until it’s parallel to the floor
Pull your shoulders back as far as you can without stiffening them
Arch your lower back until there’s a slight curve in your lower spine (this should be the natural curve of your lower back, when you’re standing tall)… here’s the rest…

Is your child’s doctor telling you not to get the flu shot for children this year?

I know that lots of you didn’t want the swine flu shot last year because it seemed a little off to you.  FYI, the swine flu vaccine is back.  It’s just hidden in this years vaccine mix.  Do you want it this year now that it’s all mixed up with the other possible flu viruses you might happen to encounter this year?  How about your kids and their little immature nervous systems?

Voltaire once said, “There is a special place reserved in hell, for those who knew but did not tell.”  I want to go heaven.  I am telling.

Government Banned Flu Vaccines for Your Children …

Why Have Multiple Countries Banned the Flu Vaccine This Year?

Flu season is nearly upon us in the United States, which means you can soon expect an onslaught of advertisements and public service messages urging you to get your yearly flu shot.

Hundreds of Australian children have experienced vomiting, fever and convulsions after getting this year’s flu shot, prompting the government to suspend use of the vaccine in children under 5.

This year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone aged 6 months and up receive a flu shot — which this year will contain an unprecedented mix of both swine flu and two strains of seasonal flu all rolled into one.

It is concerning that this combination has never before been used or tested for safety.

It is even more concerning that a similar vaccine’s use was recently suspended in Australian children under 5 because of an alarming number of serious reactions.

Australia Suspends Flu Vaccine for Children Under 5 Due to Many Suffering Serious Reactions!

When Australia’s flu vaccine drive began in March (remember, it’s winter in Australia when it’s summer in the U.S.), a surprising number of young children began suffering serious reactions, including high fevers, vomiting and febrile convulsions, after receiving the Fluvax vaccine, manufactured by vaccine maker CSL.

Like the proposed U.S. shots, Fluvax contained two seasonal strains of flu along with swine flu; its use was found to trigger nine times more convulsions in babies than would ordinarily be expected. Hundreds of children were affected before the Australian government suspended the vaccine’s use in those under 5.

As of August, Europe announced it would follow suit with the ban, while the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has recommended that the CSL vaccine not be used on children under 9.

Adam Must Have Had a Cold

Adam Must Have Had a Cold

By Arno Burnier D.C.

Fall is here, and the cold season is rapidly approaching. Nearly everyone at one point or another will have a cold. In one year alone, Americans spend the equivalent of the national budget of all the Central American countries combined on cold remedies, a whooping $ 6 billion dollars, trying to alleviate or “cure” their colds. All this in vain at the expense of the liver, kidneys and over-all body chemistry, not to mention the pocketbook. In a futile attempt to gain temporary relief, we destroy our long range health. All drugs, whether over-the-counter or prescribed, have side-effects.

Our society still regards a cold as an illness we “catch” from someone who had it before us. Not so!A cold is a normal, natural cleansing process. It is our body’s biological way of adapting to environmental changes that occur in the fall as we move into winter, and then again in the spring as summer arrives. Colds occur at times when all of life outside goes through profound changes. In the fall, trees are shedding their leaves, lawns are turning brown, animal’s furs are becoming thicker, bees are moving underground, the list goes on as all of nature undergoes transformation. By spring the resurgence of life can be seen everywhere as trees and shrubs buds, grass turns green, flowers spring up, and animals shed their winter coats. We, as human beings, are part of nature, not apart from it. We are alive and, just like the rest of nature, are going through similar changes. We label this a cold! The symptoms we experience-stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, scratchy throat, running eyes and sometimes fever- are normal processes our body goes through in order to clean the sinuses and upper respiratory tract. In other words, a cold is the “menstruation” or shedding of the mucus lining of the sinuses and upper respiratory system. No amount of medication will stop the process. Instead, it will temporarily suppress the symptoms while rendering the body more toxic. As the late Dr. Robert Mendelsohn, M.D. put it in his book Confession of a Medical Heretic, “A cold with medication last a week. Without it, it last seven days!” Yet by suppressing the symptoms of a cold we may be paying dearly down the line. Recent studies have uncovered that during a cold, the body activate protein P53, an antimutagen agent instrumental in preventing cancer. Who knows if the increase in cancer rate may be partially due, amongst other causes, to something as simple as society interfering with a normal biological process.

Contrary to popular belief, colds are not caused by viruses. Viruses may be present while we are colding but this does not make them the causative agent. England’s Common Cold Research Unit established in 1946 in Salisbury has been a pioneering institution in the worldwide study of transmission, treatment and prevention of colds. Every year 400 volunteers spend weeks at the lavish research facility where they are given nose drops that contain Rhinoviruses. As of 1993, 47 years and 18,800 volunteers latter, only one third of the tested subjects ever get a cold And that is because the one third who react to the artificial, unnatural swabbing of Rhinoviruses may have a weaken immune system to start with. Viruses do not cause colds, no more than flies bring garbage. Viruses may be present during a cold but they are not the cause of it.Virologists estimate that at any given time we may have as many as 3000 viruses in our body. Yet our immune system keep them in check.

Chiropractic care clears the nerve system of interference caused by spinal subluxations. It allows the body to function better, express life more fully, provides greater resistance to sickness and disease and ensures greater immune response. In this sense, it facilitates the shedding, cleansing process of the cold. The only side effect of the adjustment is improved performance of the body and a greater ability to adapt to changes.

So the next time you have a cold— remember— you did not catch it from someone who had it before you. If you did, that someone would have caught it from someone who had it before them. This would mean that Adam, the first man, must have had a cold to past it on to others down through history. However, there was nobody before him he could have caught it from! A little common sense beats the common cold theory.
